Hoss's Steak and Sea House, a dining staple of Pennsylvania, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in true retro style. Stopping at Hoss's is a family tradition as we make our way home from the Carlisle, PA Corvette show every year. Today the chain operates twenty-nine locations in Pennsylvania, and graces the lucky town of Martinsburg, West Virginia. There used to be a Hoss's in our town in upstate NY, and I was their first customer. Don't diminish my claim to fame! This Retro Injection entry is a labor of love, with no payout from Hoss's Steak and Sea House.
Take a gander at this beautiful slab of meat. The only tough part of a Hoss's steak is not having room for a second one. I had sides of onion rings and mashed potatoes with gravy. My wife Adrienne went to town on her crab cake, baked potato, and salad bar.
In honor of their 1983 lineage, Hoss's is bringing back classic fare from a time when steakhouses were the apex of dining out: steak fries, stuffed steak, and their renowned sliced steak sandwich. Calories mean nothing to a Hoss's fan.
My dad ordered the advertised ribeye special, and became the proud owner of a Hoss's 40th anniversary glass.
It'll be a fitting replacement for the now-broken drinking vessel in my Rockadile Red and Purplesaurus Rex Kool-Aid review.
Hoss's Steak and Sea House is also offering '80s-inspired t-shirts and trucker hats for eight bucks each. Thanks for not charging sales tax, Pennsylvania! Needless to say, I walked away with the whole ensemble.
Our annual Hoss's stop is in Shamokin Dam. Say it like The Mask!
The Shamokin Dam School once stood at the location of this Hoss's Steak and Sea House. The elementary school was torn down in 1985, and the restaurant has a tribute to the building in their lobby, complete with its original benches.

I asked the manager for a Retro Injection interview, but she had to decline; the place was busy, and she was new to the job. Later, she saw me decked out in my official Hoss's gear, and said she should put me to work! Hey, I've labored for food before.
